Alchemy of the Upper Dan Tien: Exploring the Nine Palacesimmediately after purchaseuntil 04/19/2022 - 23:59
Presenter:
In this three-hour presentation, Randine Lewis will discuss the significance of the upper dan tien and its relationship to the other two Cinnabar fields. Continuing the journey through the Inner Warp, we will focus on the upper dan tien’s role in governing the entire endocrine system. Participants will learn about the nine palaces (nine heart pains) and evaluate their significance in their own life journey.

Goals and Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will have:

  • An understanding of the theoretical and clinical significance of the nine palaces and their relationship to inner alchemy
  • A working knowledge of biomedical and energetic imbalances that can arise when one is “stuck” in a palace, experiencing only its heart pain
  • How to weave the individual’s life story into therapeutic principles and acupuncture treatment strategies

Course Outline

  • Introduction and refresher on the three Cinnabar Fields, the themes carried within, and their relationship to the mythology of the upper dan then.
  • Historical references that discuss what the nine palaces are, and their roles in governing the eight extraordinary meridians. In particular, we will view the Chong Mai and its role in carrying our destiny and where unresolved issues impact the Wei Mai.
  • When we veer from our life path, there will be disturbance in one of the palaces. Here participants will reflect on their present and past disturbances.
  • Dr. Lewis will describe and take the participant through a journey through each of the nine palaces and discover the guiding forces which have been present in our lives during harmonious and disharmonious times.
  • Leader led discussion on the discoveries made during the process, how to relinquish any stagnations, and how this might apply to self-care and guiding patients in a clinical setting

Practitioner Self-Care: Caring for the Body, the Instincts, and the Yin Lower Soulsimmediately after purchaseuntil 04/18/2022 - 23:59
    Presenter:
The po–the corporeal soul and spirit of the Metal Element – is the least understood of the five spirits, and yet it may well be the most important for healing and transformation at this time on the planet. In addition, the po soul and its accompanying lower soul, the zhi – the ancestral will and spirit of the Water Element – are often misunderstood and neglected in modern acupuncture practice. The focus of this talk will be on the po and the zhi and their relationship to practitioner self-care and health.

    Goals and Objectives

By the end of the seminar, participants will have:

    1. an understanding of the significance of the lower spirits in practitioner self-care,
    2. an understanding of the relationship of the lower souls to self-sabotage, addiction and other self-limiting choices and behaviors,
    3. an ability to recognize symptoms related to inherited trauma and behavior patterns,
    4. an introduction to basic skills and tools for working with the po and the zhi and potentially interrupting the transmission of self-destructive unconscious patterns, and
    5. a set of tools and practices to begin shifting patterns in their own self-care that can also be offered to patients.

    Course Outline

    • Introduction to the Seven Po and their functions from ancient and modern perspective (lecture)
    • Techniques for self and patient care (lecture)
    • Meditation and qigong practices (group participation)
    • Summary, Q & A (group discussion)
