This class examines the use of electroacupuncture in treating reproductive medicine clients. Electrostimulation action on the hypothalamus and pituitary system can affect all areas of reproductive health related to hormone release. There will be discussion of electroacupuncture with pain conditions and psycho-spiritual applications as a background. Areas that may be particularly affected include improving receptiveness of the endometrium, enhancing follicular growth and oxygenation of the cells, and increasing effectiveness of in-vitro fertilization. Electroacupuncture may also be helpful in managing the stress that can occur as part of the reproductive process. Point selection, electrostimulation frequencies, and duration of treatment will be discussed for optimal results depending on pattern differentiation, including cases for contraindication.
Goals and objectives
1.) Develop a working knowledge of the endogenous opioid receptors of the human CNS and their relationship to electroacupuncture frequency.
2.) Comprehend the application of electroacupuncture in the treatment of pain conditions.
3.) Discuss psycho-spiritual applications for estim to better support patients in integrative care plans.
4.) Review important Channel Theory in the treatment of fertility conditions with acupuncture.
5.) Command an understanding of electroacupuncture for the treatment of IVF with specific focus on follicular development, endometrial lining thickness, and IVF embryo transfer
6.) Discuss current research to support an evidence-based approach for the above subjects and applications
